Senior Web Developer at Slide in San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Build applications that will be used by millions of people
  • Work on many layers of Slide's products, from back-end servers / business logic (~70%) to front-end AJAX (~30%)
  • Work with product managers to determine feasibility and scheduling for new projects
  • Improve architecture / framework / coding practices if appropriate

Requirements:

  • Adept at developing extremely high-traffic, data intensive applications, comfortable with runtime complexity, caching, load balancing issues
  • Skilled in designing and implementing complex object-oriented abstractions
  • Solid in least one web programming language (Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby, etc.), exp with J2SE, C, C++ is helpful
  • Strong in JavaScript/HTML/CSS, including familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (jQuery, MochiKit, YUI, Dojo, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assist other team members in problem solving
  • Excellent knowledge of Internet/Web technologies, such as browsers, firewalls, and http
  • Working knowledge of source control software (CVS, Subversion, etc.)
  • Ability to balance long term goals and short term needs, comfortable with rapid development and release cycles
  • B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Bonus:

  • Experience with Facebook's developer platform and/or Open Social
