We're seeking a Unix systems administrator with experience building and scaling large, multi-datacenter architectures for very high traffic websites. You must have a mastery of Unix, especially Linux. Slide is growing fast, and we need admins who can work onsite full-time at our San Francisco office and take ownership and build out a major web site the right way.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of production Unix systems administration in a production datacenter environment for large, growing web properties.
  • Emphasis on Linux in previous experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, networking, firewall, and security concepts.
  • Architectural experience in an Apache/MySQL environment.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and configuration distribution tools (esp. nagios/puppet)
  • Excellent working knowledge of DNS, HTTP/S, SSH, LDAP, NFS, PXE/DHCP/TFTP.
  • Familiarity with system and software performance tuning, including tools such as strace, oprofile, gdb.
  • Extensive sh/csh/perl knowledge (Python a big plus).
  • Must be detail oriented, an organized thinker, and able to act decisively under stressful conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask and prioritize, and a proactive mindset.
  • Team player and self-motivated.
